Suresh Kumar

Suresh Kumar is the executive vice president and global chief technology officer (CTO) and chief development officer (CDO) of Walmart, Inc. As global CTO, he sets the company’s technical strategy, combining advances in computing with Walmart’s strengths to deliver the best customer experiences. As global CDO, he leads the team building tools and systems to digitally transform business operations, using the scale and power of Walmart’s data to deliver a competitive advantage while improving associate productivity. His organization includes technologists from across Walmart supporting all global businesses, including Walmart U.S., Sam’s Club, and Walmart International. He also oversees global shared services, data, cloud, infrastructure, and information security. Suresh has 25 years of technology leadership experience, including VP/GM roles at Google and Microsoft. Prior to Microsoft, Suresh spent fifteen years in leadership roles at Amazon, including Vice President of Technology for retail systems and operations. He began his career as a research staff member at IBM Watson Research Center. Suresh received a PhD in engineering from Princeton and a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
